Ingredients

For the Apple Fries

  • 2 large apples (such as Fuji or Gala) These apples are naturally sweet and have a crisp texture.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Provides the base for the coating.
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Infuses the fries with a warm flavor.
  • 1/4 tsp salt Enhances the overall taste.
  • 1 large egg, beaten Acts as a binding agent.
  • 2 tbsp sugar Provides sweetness to the coating.
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted Gives the fries a golden-brown finish.
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional) Adds extra sweetness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Peel and core the apples, then slice them into thin strips resembling fries.

Coating

  • In a small bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, salt, and sugar, stirring until blended.
  • Dip each apple strip into the beaten egg, then coat with the flour mixture, shaking off excess.

Cooking

  • Arrange the coated apple fries in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  • Lightly spray with cooking spray or drizzle with melted butter.
  • Air fry for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Once cooked, sprinkle with brown sugar while warm and serve immediately.

Notes

For added crunch, consider mixing breadcrumbs with the flour. Soaking apple slices in lemon juice enhances flavors and prevents browning. Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the air fryer for optimal crispness.
