Instructions

Preparation

  • Bring a pot of salted water to a rolling boil and cook the spaghetti until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and reserve half a cup of pasta water.
  • In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onions until translucent, about 4-5 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional minute before adding the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes, draining excess fat.
  • Stir in the softened cream cheese, allowing it to melt into the meat mixture. Then mix in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning. Let it simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  • Fold the cooked spaghetti into the creamy mixture, using the reserved pasta water to adjust the consistency.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a greased baking dish, layer half the spaghetti mixture and half the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until the casserole is golden brown and bubbling.

Serving

  • Allow the casserole to cool slightly before serving to enhance texture and ease of cutting.
