Cheese Filling

  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar Adds sweetness to the cream cheese filling.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Enhances the overall flavor.
  • 1/4 cup sour cream Adds tanginess and enriches the filling.

Topping

  • 1 cup cherry pie filling Provides a burst of fruity flavor.
  • 1 egg (for egg wash) Gives the pastries a golden color.
  • 1 tbsp milk (optional, for egg wash) adds richness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut it into squares or rectangles (about 6 pieces). Score a border about 1/2 inch from the edge of each square.
  • In a bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and sour cream until smooth and creamy.
  • Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry square.

Assembly

  • Top each pastry with a spoonful of cherry pie filling.
  • Brush the edges with the egg wash.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For an extra special touch, consider adding almond extract to the cream cheese filling or substituting cherry pie filling with other fruit options. If desired, mix in chocolate chips for a delicious twist.
