Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 1 box Devil's Food cake mix A rich base that ensures a moist cake.
  • 1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding Adds extra chocolate flavor and creaminess.
  • 5 large eggs Provide structure and help bind the ingredients together.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Enhances the overall flavor.
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil Keeps the cake moist and tender.
  • 1 cup sour cream or buttermilk Adds richness and depth of flavor.
  • 3/4 cup brewed coffee Intensifies the chocolate taste without being noticeable.
  • 2 cups Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips For that extra gooey, chocolatey goodness.

For the ganache

  • 1 stick salted butter A key ingredient for a silky ganache.
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder Deepens the chocolate flavor in the ganache.
  • 1/2 box powdered sugar Sweetens the ganache to perfection.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Enhances the sweetness of the ganache.
  • 3 tbsp milk Helps achieve a creamy ganache consistency.
  • 1/2 cup pecan pieces For a crunchy texture to contrast with the soft cake.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  • In a large bowl, combine the Devil's Food cake mix and instant chocolate pudding mix.
  • Add in the five eggs, one teaspoon of vanilla extract, vegetable oil, sour cream or buttermilk, and brewed coffee. Mix well until smooth.
  • Gently fold in the Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  • Bake for approximately 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Making the ganache

  • While the cake cools, melt the salted butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  • Drizzle ganache over cooled cake and sprinkle with pecan pieces.
  • Allow ganache to set for about 10-15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For an extra moist cake, consider adding an additional egg or substituting one of the eggs with 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce. Experiment with different types of chocolate chips for variations.
