For the filling

  • 1 can (21-ounce) premium canned cherry pie filling The star ingredient of the dish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Melt 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter in an 8-inch square baking dish until golden and bubbly.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, 2/3 cup sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Whisk until blended.
  • Pour in 1 cup of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, stirring until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.

Assembly

  • Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir.
  • Spoon the cherry pie filling evenly over the top.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.

Serving

  • Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving. Optionally, serve with vanilla ice cream.

Notes
