Easy Saucy Ramen Noodles

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 2 packs instant ramen noodles Discard seasoning packet
  • 1 cup chicken broth or water Use water for a vegetarian version
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tb cornstarch Optional for a thicker sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp chili paste or sriracha Optional for spice

Garnishes

  • 1 tbsp green onions, chopped For garnish
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds Optional, for garnish

Instructions
 

Cooking the Noodles

  • Cook the ramen noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain them well and set aside.

Making the Sauce

  • In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and ginger. Mix well.
  • Pour the chicken broth (or water) into a small saucepan and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  • Once simmering, add in the sauce mixture and stir to combine. Allow to simmer for about 3-4 minutes.
  • If a thicker sauce is desired, dissolve cornstarch in 2 tablespoons of water and add it to the saucepan. Continue to simmer until desired consistency is reached.

Combining Noodles and Sauce

  • Add the cooked ramen noodles to the saucepan, tossing to coat them evenly in the sauce.
  • If desired, stir in chili paste or sriracha for a spicy kick.

Serving

  • Serve in bowls, garnished with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.

Notes

For extra flavor, add diced vegetables like bell peppers or mix in protein options such as grilled chicken or tofu. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days, and reheat with a splash of water.
