Ingredients
  

For the fried mushrooms

  • 1 each egg, beaten Acts as a binding agent.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch) Provides a delightful crunch.
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying) Choose a neutral oil for frying.

For the ranch dipping sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise Base of your ranch sauce.
  • 1/4 cup sour cream Adds creaminess and tang.
  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix For iconic ranch flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice Brightens up the flavors.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust seasoning as necessary.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • In another shallow bowl, beat the egg until well mixed.
  • In a third shallow bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
  • Take each mushroom slice and dip it into the flour mixture, then into the beaten egg, and finally coat it with the breadcrumbs.

Cooking

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Carefully add the coated mushroom slices in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the mushrooms from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate.

Making the sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, ranch seasoning mix, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth.

Serving

  • Plate the crispy fried mushrooms and serve with the ranch dipping sauce.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, add grated Parmesan cheese to the breadcrumbs. To make it healthier, try baking the mushrooms instead of frying them.
