  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped (for garnish) A fresh, mild onion flavor that brightens the dish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, honey, grated ginger, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Place it over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Allow the sauce to come to a simmer, and let it thicken for about 5-7 minutes.

Cooking the Cod

  • While the glaze is thickening, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the cod fillets generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • Once the oil is hot, carefully place the cod fillets in the skillet, cooking them for 3-4 minutes on each side until a golden brown crust forms.
  • Once the cod is fully cooked, reduce the heat to low and pour the ginger soy glaze over the fish. Let it cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Garnishing and Serving

  • Garnish the cod with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
  • Serve alongside steamed rice or fresh vegetables for a well-rounded meal.

Notes

For added spice, include a splash of sriracha or red pepper flakes. Freshly grated ginger provides a more intense flavor compared to powdered ginger. You can also marinate the cod in the glaze for deeper flavor penetration.
