Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, combine the unsalted butter and olive oil over medium heat until melted.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms, cooking until softened and browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Once the mushrooms are golden, add the minced garlic and thyme, cooking for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper to personal taste.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and cook for another 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Toast the slices of rustic bread in the oven or on a grill pan until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Spoon the mushroom and garlic mixture evenly atop each piece of toast.
  • Sprinkle Parmesan and mozzarella cheese on top of each toast.
  • Return the toasts to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes until the cheese melts and bubbles.
  • Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

For a lighter version, consider using low-fat cream cheese or whole-grain bread. Experiment with herbs and spices.
