Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually incorporate the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Stir in the chopped pecans and optional chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them adequately.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden brown and centers remain soft.
  • Allow to cool before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Ensure the butter is softened, not melted. Use parchment paper for even baking. Store cookies in an airtight container; they will stay fresh for about a week.
