Cheese

Tomatoes

  • 2 pieces 2 ripe heirloom tomatoes, sliced Provides a refreshing balance to the cheese.

Herbs & Seasonings

  • 1 cup 1 cup fresh basil leaves, torn Adds an herbal zing.
  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp balsamic glaze Adds sweet and tangy flavor depth.
  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil Enhances the richness of the dish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Slice the Italian bread loaf in half lengthwise and place cut-side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Layer the fresh mozzarella slices evenly on each half.
  • Add tomato slices on top of the mozzarella, ensuring they are well-distributed.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the layers and season with salt and pepper.

Cooking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven, top with torn basil leaves, and drizzle with balsamic glaze before slicing into pieces.

Notes

Leftovers can be frozen in slices and reheated in the oven. Avoid overbaking and be cautious of moisture to prevent sogginess.
