Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large nonstick pan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
  • Add 1/2 cup diced onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in 2 minced garlic cloves and cook for one more minute until fragrant.
  • Sprinkle 2 1/2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour over the mixture, stirring constantly for about one minute.
  • Gradually whisk in 1 cup of heavy cream, stirring until smooth.
  • Add 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/4 teaspoon Creole seasoning, and 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes. If desired, add a pinch of nutmeg.
  • Stir in 2/3 cup shredded Parmesan and 2/3 cup shredded mozzarella until melted and combined.
  • Mix in 1/4 cup sour cream and 2 cups chopped spinach until wilted.
  • Remove from heat and gently fold in 1 pound of shrimp until well-coated.
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until bubbly and lightly browned.

Notes

For a foolproof cooking experience, ensure shrimp is thawed and pat dry. Consider adding diced bell peppers or mushrooms for texture. Substitute half-and-half for heavy cream for a lighter option.
