Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, beat together the granulated sugar and vegetable oil until creamy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the wet mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
  • Mix until just combined, then add the green food coloring.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting

  • In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and softened butter until smooth.

Assembly
