Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  • In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring.
  • Gradually pour wet ingredients into dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Add white vinegar and blend until smooth.

Baking

  • Divide the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Frosting
