Ingredients
  

For the pastry

  • 1 sheet puff pastry Can use store-bought or homemade
  • 1 egg beaten egg For egg wash

For the cream cheese filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Bring to room temperature for easy mixing
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar Adds sweetness to the filling
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract For flavor
  • 1/4 tsp lemon juice Adds brightness to the filling

For the strawberry topping

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced Use ripe strawberries for best flavor
  • 2 tbsp sugar To enhance the strawberries' sweetness
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice To balance the sweetness

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unroll the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into squares or rectangles, approximately 3x3 inches each.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Beat until smooth and creamy.

Assembling

  • Place a generous spoonful of the cream cheese filling in the center of each pastry square.
  • Gently fold the edges around the filling and brush them with the beaten egg.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the sliced strawberries with sugar and lemon juice. Allow to sit for 10 minutes.

Baking

  • Carefully transfer the pastries to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and crisp.

Serving

  • Once cooled slightly, top each Danish with the strawberry mixture.
  • Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

To prevent spilling, avoid overfilling the pastries. Ensure to allow the strawberry mixture to sit for full flavor.
