For the cake

For the whipped cream

Instructions
 

Prepare the strawberries

  • Wash and slice 2 cups of fresh strawberries.
  • Sprinkle them with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar and let them sit for a while.

Make the cake batter

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In one bowl, mix together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  • In another bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of softened butter and 3/4 cup of sugar until the mixture is fluffy and pale.
  • Gradually add in 1 cup of whole milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the butter mixture, creating a dream-like batter.

Combine wet and dry ingredients

  • Gently fold the dry mixture into the wet until just combined.

Bake

  • Pour the silky batter into greased cake pans, then slide them into the oven.
  • Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Whip the cream

  • While the cake cools, bring out your chilled mixing bowl and pour in 1 cup of heavy whipping cream.
