Instructions

Preparation

  • Combine 2 cups of heavy cream, 1 cup of whole milk, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 1/2 tsp of salt in a medium saucepan.
  • Cut a vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape the aromatic seeds into the mixture, adding both the seeds and the pod.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is warm and fragrant.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and let the vanilla pod steep in the mixture for 10 minutes. If using pure vanilla extract, add it now.
  • After steeping, remove the vanilla pod and let the mixture cool before refrigerating it for at least four hours or overnight.

Strawberry Preparation

  • In a blender, combine 1 1/2 cups of hulled and chopped strawberries, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 tbsp of lemon juice.

Churning

  • Once the base has chilled, pour it into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Transfer half of the churned ice cream to a lidded container, creating a layer of the strawberry mixture in the center and adding remaining ice cream on top.
  • Gently swirl the strawberry mixture throughout, creating a marbled effect.
  • Cover the container and freeze the ice cream for at least four hours or until fully set.

Serving

  • Serve the delightful homemade creation to friends and family and enjoy each creamy, fruity bite.

Notes

For successful ice cream, ensure your ice cream maker bowl is thoroughly frozen before pouring in the mixture. Don’t rush; allow the flavors to develop.
